Bethlehem Police Detective Sergeant Mark Diluzio, Northampton County DA John Morganelli and others haven’t forgotten the cold case. Some people including Holly’s father, Richard, believe there’s a connection between her murder and brother Sean's death six months later. There are inconsistencies in the 2011 and 1979 news.

Holly Branagan’s Murder

She was alone in her home on Pine Top Trail, an exclusive Bethlehem neighborhood. Holly was on the phone with friend Cindy Bove, around 4:30 p.m. when Holly said someone was knocking on the door and she’d be back. One of the girls had her radio on. When she returned, Holly said she had to go, but would call Cindy. There was no return call.

Police believe one person stabbed Holly, but don’t know if the perp was alone. The killer might have been injured as Holly fought back. The knife snapped after the 18th stab. It had no fingerprints. It’s believed that the assailant didn’t plan to kill her, but did after an argument ran amok. The 10-inch murder weapon belonged to the Branagans. Richard wonders if she grabbed it to defend herself.
